Swiss International Rooms Professional Diploma
Diploma Description
With this Diploma program, students will acquire the competencies and knowledge required to be fully operational in different functions of the Rooms Division department, following the standards of a first-class hotel operation.
Students graduating from this program will have the capacity to successfully work independently in the front-office or housekeeping operations and be well-equipped to enter the industry and reach a supervisory position in a short period of time. The course content is benchmarked on the Swiss Vocational Competency Framework.
Program Aims
Graduates of the Rooms Professional Diploma will be proficient in the following activities and will be distinguished by the following behaviours:
a) As hosts, they welcome guests according to an establishment's guidelines and ensure that a positive customer experience is delivered.
b) Through their personality, they create a pleasant atmosphere and ensure the well-being of their customers. They identify the specific needs of their guests and take appropriate measures to satisfy them.
c) They are aware of the importance of cleanliness, maintenance and laundry work as well as organizational tasks, including logistics for all back-of the-house activities.
d) They can effectively use a property management system. They can make reservations, perform check-ins and check-outs, manage bills and collect revenue.
e) They have mastered the principles of hygiene and occupational safety.They ensure that the value of premises, installations and appliances is preserved, and that energy and equipment are used economically.
Certificates
Foundation – In this first certificate, students will acquire the basic skills required to be operational in the Rooms Department of a hotel including Housekeeping and Laundry. The skills learned will be reinforced and applied during the On-the-Job Training experience.
Intermediate –After having acquired the skills to operate independently in a hotel’s back-of-the- house, students will learn the skills needed to be successful at the front-desk to welcome guests. The skills learned will be reinforced and applied during the On-the-Job Training experience.
Advanced – Following 1-year of studies or combined with previous professional experience, students will focus on the management side of Housekeeping and Front-Office Departments. To complete
